How can we help?

Answers for people using GlowScroll: showing a sign, changing how it looks, saving it, and what happens to your data.

Getting started

What is GlowScroll?

GlowScroll turns your phone or tablet into a bright scrolling LED sign. Type a message, tap Show, and hold your phone up. It has no ads, no account and no subscription.

Do I need an account?

No. There’s no sign-up and no login. Open the app and type your sign.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Showing, editing and saving signs all work without an internet connection.

Showing a sign

How do I show a sign full screen?

Type your message on the home screen and tap Show (or the Go key on your keyboard). Quick phrases go full screen with one tap.

How do I pause or exit?

Tap the sign to pause or resume it. Press and hold for about a second and a half to exit. Exiting needs a hold so a bump in a crowd doesn’t close your sign.

Why does my screen go to full brightness?

A sign is easiest to read at full brightness, so GlowScroll turns it up while the sign is showing and puts it back when you exit.

How do I change the look, color or speed?

Tap Style on the home screen. You can pick the LED look, size, text and background colors, direction (left, right or still), speed, and effects like blink and rainbow. The preview at the top shows every change.

What is mirror mode?

Mirror flips the sign so it reads correctly from the other side of a window or glass. Only use a sign in a car while parked, and never where it blocks your view.

What is Flash Safety?

Flash Safety is on by default. It keeps blinking to three flashes a second or fewer, below the level known to trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. You can turn it off in Settings, but only if nobody nearby could be affected.

How do I use a template?

Tap Templates on the home screen, pick a category and tap a sign. It opens in Style, where you can change the words, colors or look before showing it.

Which fonts are there?

Four fonts are free: Bold, Silkscreen, Arcade and Terminal. Premium adds eight more. Pick one under Font in Style.

Saved banners

Can I organize saved signs into folders?

Yes, with Premium. In Saved, tap “+ Folder”, then use “Move” on a sign to put it in a folder. Deleting a folder keeps its signs saved.

How do I save a sign?

Open Style, set up your sign and tap Save. Saved signs are listed under Saved on the home screen, where you can show, edit or delete them.

How many signs can I save?

The free version keeps 20 saved signs. Premium removes the limit. Your recent signs are always listed on the home screen as well.

Privacy & your data

Where are my signs stored?

On your device. GlowScroll has no server and no account system, so we never receive what you write.

Does the app track me?

No. The app has no ads and no analytics or tracking tools. This website uses Google Analytics for basic visit counts; the app doesn’t. See the privacy policy.

How do I delete my data?

See Delete your GlowScroll data. In short: delete a sign from Saved, use Settings → Erase all banners, or uninstall the app.

Backup & restore

How do I move my signs to a new phone?

In Settings → Backup & export, tap Export banners to save your saved signs and folders as one file. Save it somewhere you can reach from the new phone (Files, Google Drive, email). On the new phone, install GlowScroll and tap Import a backup file. This works between iPhone and Android too.

What does automatic backup do?

With Premium, GlowScroll saves a copy of your saved signs and folders to a private folder in your own iCloud (iPhone) or Google Drive (Android) a short while after you change something. Only GlowScroll can open that folder, and the copy never goes to our servers.

Why does Android ask me to sign in with Google?

Google Drive needs your permission before GlowScroll can save there. GlowScroll asks only for its own hidden app folder, not your other Drive files.

How do I restore from my backup?

Install GlowScroll, unlock or restore Premium, then go to Settings → Backup & export and tap Restore from backup. On Android, link Google Drive first. Restoring adds your backed-up signs to the phone. It only removes a sign if you deleted it on another phone.

I set up a new phone. Will its first backup erase my old one?

No. The first backup on a phone brings in what’s already in your backup before it saves, so nothing in it is lost.

I use GlowScroll on two phones. Do they stay in step?

Mostly, when both have backup on with the same iCloud or Google account. Each phone brings in the other’s saved signs when it next backs up, and a sign deleted on one phone is deleted on the other too. Your recent (unsaved) signs stay on each phone.

Premium & purchases

What does Premium include?

The Square LED, Pixel and Neon looks, eight more fonts, unlimited saved signs and folders, automatic backup to your own iCloud or Google Drive, and every future Premium feature. It’s a one-time purchase with no subscription.

Can I try Premium looks first?

Yes. Pick any Premium look in Style to preview it. Shown full screen, it stays for 30 seconds before switching to a free look.

I bought Premium. How do I get it on a new phone?

Install GlowScroll, signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account, then go to Settings → Restore purchase.

Does Premium carry over between iPhone and Android?

No. Apple and Google keep purchases separate, so a purchase on one doesn’t unlock the other.

Is Family Sharing supported?

Yes, on iPhone and iPad. Family members can use Premium at no extra cost.

Troubleshooting

My sign looks choppy.

Close other apps and try again. If it’s still choppy, email us your phone model so we can look into it.
